So You Prefer The Bald Look?

For whatever reason, you decided that bald is beautiful, but that doesn't get you off the hook for caring for your scalp.  A shaved head still requires specific care.

1. PREP.  You should shave your head at the end of a hot shower when the hairs are softer.  Apply a good quality shave cream such as AVEDA's Pure-Formance shave cream.  I recently had the privilege to to test out this brand new cream (It's not yet in stores!), from Aveda's award-winning pure-formance line which features soothing aloe, sunflower, licorice, and soybean extracts.  TIP: Leave the shave cream on for several minutes before shaving for the smoothest, irritation-free shave.

2. SHAVE. Use a good quality razor.  My favorite is the GILLETTE Fusion Power, with 5 blades for the closest shave you have ever had!

3. MOISTURIZE. As with any other shaving (legs, underarms, face), dry skin can often occur, so use a good moisturizer/aftershave.  Also from AVEDA's brand new Pure-Formance shaving system is the dual-action aftershave, which soothes shaving irritation AND moisturizes skin using the same award-winning pure-formance formulations.

4. PROTECT. A shaved or bald head has a much greater exposure to the sun's damaging rays, so use a sunscreen with a high SPF like JACK BLACK Sun Guard with SPF 45.  In addition to the sun protection factor, it offers vitamins A, C, and E to sooth and nourish the skin.  It's also water and sweat resistant, so you won't have to reapply.
