As my hair gets longer and longer, I am constantly searching for something to help keep it strong, hydrated and glossy. Butter By Keba's Fruition Hair Serum is a serious option for coarse, chemically treated hair.
First off, to avoid any confusion, this product isn't always marketed in my direction. I know this. But that doesn't mean that it won't work wonders on my processed, coarse hair! Fruition Hair Serum contains sunflower, coconut, palm, jojoba and sweet almond oils with a touch of shea butter and carnuba wax. It's a powerful recipe that the creator, Makeba Lloyd, has been proud to share for more than four years.
Born in Harlem, inspired in Egypt and created in Brooklyn, all products in the Butter by Keba line are created with two purposes in mind; to moisturize and to scent. Because we all know my sniffer will never do the complex aroma in the Fruition Hair Serum justice, I asked Makeba to describe the scent for me, "The Fruition hair serum is a blend of grape and grapefruit fragrances with essential oils if lavender and Rosemary." It's a light and intimate scent; I really like it!
(See how thick? It heats up quickly in your hands and melts into a rich oil.)
Here's the deal with this product. A little goes a long way. It's thick. Almost like an oil that is partially in a solid state, it's gel-like. If you apply too much, you will have hair that is weighed down and heavy. This is a rich, emollient serum that literally melts and explodes in your hands. I'm not kidding. There are teeny, tiny coconut spheres encapsulated in this formula that burst after you've put the product in your hands and have rubbed them together, heating the oil.
I like to add a bit to my hair as a treatment the night before I wash my hair (I usually wash in the morning) and a bit to the dry, coarse ends of my hair that fall past my ears after I've styled it. I have some bleached bits that just always look fried to me and this instantly restores my locks to pre-bleach status and better! It adds an incredible amount of shine and control. But don't say I didn't warn you: a little goes a long way. Whether you have dry, processed, coarse hair or need help taming your hair, Fruition Hair Serum may be just what you're looking for. And it's a steal for $10!
